  Irreducible Complexity How can everything in our Universe, including our home planet Earth, Organic Life, and even our own species, have arisen out of such simple and random beginnings? This is a time sequence of the Evolution of our Universe, of Life, and Humans. Quantum Physics is the branch of Science that studies and describes reality at the atomic (molecules and atoms) and the subatomic (electrons, protons, and even smaller particles) level of matter. Quantum Mechanics is a mathematical description of reality, like any scientific model. Some of its predictions and implications go against the "common sense" of how humans see a set of bodies (a system) behave. This isn't necessarily a failure of QM - it's more of a reflection of how humans understand space and time on larger scales (eg, centimetres, seconds) rather than much smaller. Few scientific endeavors are quite as thorough and quite as unambiguously empirically scientific as Physics. Cosmology and Astronomy is possibly the most awe-inspiring branch of Physics, which is why Humans have been attempting to unravel its mysteries since the dawn of civilization. Never in the 200000 year history of our species had we managed to understand the Universe around us quite so thoroughly. Earth formation within a stable Solar System allowed for Abiogenesis. The members of an ant colony are capable of a wide variety of complex behaviors: finding and transporting food, constructing elaborate underground complexes of tunnels and chambers, defending their territory from invaders. Such activity would seem to involve a great deal of planning, memory, and coordination. But there is no head ant who draws up a blueprint for the colony and gives directions to the worker ants. Instead, each ant follows a very simple set of rules, based on cues from its environment and from the activity of ants nearby. For example... how do ants know to walk in a single file to pick up food, and then return in single file to the nest? They dont. They know three simple rules. First, if you come upon something that smells like food - pick it up! Second, when you pick up a piece of food, release a chemical signal... a pheromone. Third, if you come across a pheromone trail left by another ant... follow it! There is no plan, no memory, no need for a leader to point the way.
