The HyperDrive may not fix that problem for you, but it may be handy in certain circumstances. Using the portable HyperDrive and the iPad Camera Connection Kit, one can transfer movies and photos onto the iPad from either the HyperDrive’s internal storage or via memory...

We’re all busy people, and I’m sure that many of us missed the iPod/Apple TV SteveFest on the first. Once again, Neil Curtis , master of cutting to the chase, has created a three-minute version of the 75-minute presentation. Previously, Neil did a very short version of the adjective enhanced iPad rollout ; he’s very good at this sort of thing. This little video (making wonderful use of music) only mentions stores “with people”...

According to Steve at last week’s event, there are 120 million iDevices total in the world, and we already knew from SEC filings that 59.6 million of those were iPhones . The current number of iPads in the hands of customers around world is 3.2...

If you’ve been having problems with the Apple MobileMe iDisk app, or even if you haven’t noticed anything weird, it’s a good idea to get the latest update. The newest version (1.21) fixes a problem opening Keynote files in some circumstances on the iPad. Rotated images now show in the correct orientation, and there are the usual unspecified ’stability and performance improvements.’ Meanwhile, the Find My iPhone...

The careful readers at Engadget have noticed that Apple cut a few corners (so to speak) on its website documentation for the latest iPod touch. There’s no ear speaker or phone service on the device, obviously, but nevertheless Apple’s iPod touch display units show that the Phone app is still sitting down there in the lower left corner. Searching in Spotlight, according to another screenshot, will bring up the text messaging app,...

So far, the details are slim, but what we do know is that it will incorporate Apple’s new AirPlay technology, have a rechargeable battery, and be available for the holiday season! We half-expected it to show its face during Apple’s iPod/iTunes presentation last week. Maybe Amazon did too because it now it looks as if upgraded versions of iLife (and iWork?) Family Pack appear listed on Amazon . The $99 family pack is listed as shipping “within 2 to 4 weeks”.  It was first reported in a Macworld forum last month. Don’t neglect the July revelation that iLife and iWork ’10 books were listed...

Good news, everyone! The software update that was “coming soon” to resolve iOS 4.0’s terrible performance on the iPhone 3G has gone “gold master” (GM) and should be available to the general public next week . I’ve had the opportunity to test this update out on my wife’s iPhone 3G , and I’m happy to report that it does indeed appear to resolve all the stuttering, crashing, and generalized slowness...

When Apple released the third-generation iPod shuffle in 2009, I saw it as a perfect example of the design hubris that many Apple detractors point to. From a usability perspective, there really wasn’t anything wrong with the second-generation iPod shuffle — it had a minimal number of buttons, true, but their functions were fairly obvious. In a textbook example of the emphasis of form over function, Apple’s third-generation...

Epic Games, creator of the Unreal 3 game engine , has been working on getting Unreal Engine 3 running in iOS for a while now. They showed off some of their efforts with a demo of “Project Sword” at Apple’s iPod event , and Mike Capps of Epic Games talked about the direction he saw gaming on iOS devices taking in the future. The fact that the Unreal 3 engine now runs seamlessly on iOS devices is a huge deal. This is the same game...

If you have a secret love affair with shoulder padded t-shirts (that you wear around the house when no one’s looking), and you instinctively roll up your sleeves when you put on your favourite blazer jacket (and don’t get why people look at you funny), then here’s an app for you. Back in June Akai Professional released SynthStation for the iPhone / iPod touch, and we got excited. Very excited. Why? Because we love synths, especially...

You saw them in the keynote today, now watch them again in the privacy of your own home: the new iPod touch and iPod nano television ads are live on Apple.com and on Apple’s YouTube channel . “All kinds of fun,” indeed. (If you’re a fan of NBC’s Chuck , like some of us are, you may appreciate that Cake’s Short Skirt/Long Jacket — the show’s theme song — is featured in the new nano ad.) [via...

The public servants at the FCC are earning their keep today, favoring us with several PDFs full of lovely, detailed images of both the internal and external design of the soon-to-ship iPod touch . Check out the gallery below for several of the pictures, and consider how much nicer it will be when you actually have the new hotness in hand.
